I am afraid that I’ll never have a living child.
My daughter Cora died at five days old.
I’ve had three miscarriages since. I’m 32 and feel my biological clock ticking.
I am afraid that I am forgetting parts of my days with Cora.
I am terrified that other people will forget her too.
Sometimes, I am haunted that somehow I did something wrong with Cora, and it’s all my fault.
When we speak our fears, we give them power, or so some people say.
Speaking my fears lessens their powers over me.
I suspect we are all afraid.
Fear is a normal part of losing a baby. Other fears in my life seem so minuscule after losing her, but the big fears brought from her death sweep over me like a paralyzing cloud when I least expect.
